About the Impulse Hybrid Mattress
The Impulse Powered Hybrid Profiling Mattress combines static and active mattress technologies to provide advanced pressure relief and the highest levels of user comfort.
With a high risk pressure relief rating, this mattress is most suitable for those who are very high risk of developing pressure soars and require the a very high risk pressure relieving mattress to maximise their comfort and reduce the risk of pressure soars developing. The mattress uses a combination of static and active technologies in order to stimulate advanced pressure relief to those with a severe likelihood of developing pressure sores.
The layered foam and air cell composition of the Impulse ensures optimum comfort and pressure relief. A three-zone lying surface includes a broad-castellation head zone for comfort and a gel-infused heel zone for pressure reducing envelopment on this vulnerable area of skin.
The Impulse Hybrid Mattress is able to vary in firmness as it can be used with or without the pump. The mattress on its own and without the pump is a medium firmness and provides a supporting surface for high risk users. If a firmer surface is required for the mattress, the airflow can be adjusted by using the pump.
The pump incorporates auto-weighing technology that responds to user body weight to effectively apply the optimum level of airflow through the mattress air cells. There is also an adjustable comfort setting that allows you to adjust the firmness of the mattress for highest levels of comfort.
A row of alternating therapy air cells are contained within the mattress. This lateral row of air cells constantly alternate, whilst some cells are inflated the others are deflated. Air flow is controlled through a pump unit with auto-weighing technology and comfort adjustment.
The step up/step down ability of the Impulse allows it to be used as a static or dynamic surface. This also means that in the event of a power failure when the pump is in use, the user is supported by a high risk foam lying surface.

Yes, The Opera Impulse Hybrid Mattress can be purchased indivudaly as a standalone pressure care mattress for very high risk users. It can also be used with the pump when additional firmess is required and users benefit from a mattress that provides both static and dynamic pressure care.
What type of bed do you need for the mattress?
All of our pressure care mattresses are suitable for use on any type of bed, including profiling care beds and adjustable beds.
Will the user get hot due to the wipe clean cover?
The cover is a PU cover and is breathable, this prevents the user from sweating and the build up of heat.
What does a very high risk category mean?
The Impulse Hybrid Mattress is designed for users at a very high risk of developing a pressure sore. Those who are classified as very high risk will most likely experienced a pressure sore previously and is not uncommon for them to develop. Examples of people within the very high risk category are more likely to have restricted mobility, damaged and vulnerable skin. Other potential factors such as being confined to a bed or inability to move specific areas of the body can come under the very risk category.
